Our History

Founded in 1970 in Capel, Western Australia, the name DIAB comes from the first letters of the founders’ names – David and Anne Payne; and Ian and Betty Shields. In 1976 DIAB Engineering relocated its primary maintenance and fabrication facility to the Geraldton area.

Over time DIAB has grown to become the preferred provider for capital works projects and maintenance services across Australia by providing high quality, reliable integrated engineering services for all size projects in the resources industry. DIAB’s business success has been built around the key elements
of loyalty to its people, its customers and the local communities in which it operates.

In 2019 DIAB became a subsidiary of NRW Holdings, one of the largest, most diversified contractors in Australia, delivering high quality, innovative and safe services to the mining, energy, civil infrastructure and urban development sectors. DIAB continues to operate with the same senior management team.
